Attorney FAQ

Direct answers for the questions serious attorneys ask before trusting the model.

This FAQ is designed to resolve caution, not pressure it away. The answer to most concerns is attorney control plus documented boundaries.

Is Scale Counsel a law firm?

No. Scale Counsel is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It provides marketing, intake, administrative coordination, and non-legal draft support to independent licensed attorneys.

Who is the attorney of record?

The partner attorney. The attorney is responsible for legal services, conflict checks, engagement terms, legal advice, final review, and sign-off.

Can I reject a client?

Yes. Attorney veto power is central to the model. You can reject any matter for conflicts, capacity, practice fit, risk tolerance, pricing, or any professional reason.

Who controls the payout account?

The attorney should control their own payout account where platform rules permit. Scale's fee is handled separately under the agreement.

Does Scale provide drafts?

Scale can provide administrative draft support, shells, formatting, and fact organization. No draft should be treated as final legal work until the attorney reviews and approves it.

What about malpractice insurance?

Attorneys should maintain active coverage and confirm with their carrier that the workflow, practice areas, and support model fit policy terms.

What should I say to platforms?

You should operate as an individual practitioner and answer direct platform questions truthfully while following platform terms and applicable professional duties.

Can I start with only one channel?

Yes. The 30-day pilot is designed for cautious attorneys who want a narrow test before broader rollout.
